Offline Action For FPS Gamers
Sometimes it’s difficult to pull yourself away from the screen or monitor, but let’s be honest with ourselves. Gamers tend to get a bad rap as far as getting outside and staying healthy, especially the hardcore FPS and MMO players. That doesn’t mean we’re not fit and healthy, but spending long tracts of time taking out noobs sometimes leaves a lot of room for improvement when it comes to getting out of the house. Luckily for those of us that can’t seem to break away from our FPSes, there are lots of options for having fun.

Paintball has been an awesome pastime for years, even longer than people have been playing video games. Picking the right loadout of paintball guns and working together as a team forms the core of this IRL squad based shooter. Tippman paintball guns in particular are known for their high quality and amazing craftsmanship. A quick online search can give you all the information you need on nearby paintball fields or shops and any groups that get together in your area. After you get your gear, you can be topping the leaderboards and pulling off sick killstreaks like nobody’s business in the comfort of your own back yard.
If getting splattered with paint isn’t your thing, then airsoft guns are the next step up. Either CO2 or spring powered, airsoft guns fire plastic pellets for a more realistic feel to combat. Airsoft guns can be found at most superstore retailers as well as specialty and hobby shops, so you don’t have to search for somewhere that sells them just to get started. Make sure to bring some heavy safety glasses, because in my experience airsoft players go for headshots. Finding a reason to get outside and have some fun isn’t all that tough, sometimes the tough part is find a reason to go back in.

Command & Conquer: Generals 2
During the Video Game Awards Command & Conquer: Generals 2 has officially been announced. The game takes place ten years after the first release of the series. BioWare Victory is developing the game based on the critically acclaimed Battlefield 3 game engine Frostbite 2.
BioWare confirms the rumors about the new release by announcing the release of Command & Conquer: Generals 2. The strategy game is being made by the studio Victory Games that has come into existence this year. Due to a reorganization EA has placed this studio into the caring hands of BioWare. Generals 2 will be released in 2013 for pc.
In an interview with IGN producer Jon van Caneghem explains that the game takes place 10 years after the first game and although initially there is only peace, important politicians are killed during a terrorist attack. Only the generals remain alive… Shortly after the attack a war starts between the GLA, the EU and a third unannounced party. The game will provide a solid single player as well as a multiplayer game mode.
Command & Conquer: Generals 2 has a minimal system requirement of a Windows Vista SP1-system with a 2GHz-dualcoreprocessor. Furthermore 2GB of RAM and 20GB of hard disc space is expected. The graphics card must have at least 512MB of memory and be able to handle DirectX 10. The ATI Radeon 3870 of Nvidia GeForce 8800GT is given as a suitable example. However, for optimal performace a Windows 7-system with a quadcoreprocessor, 4GB of RAM and a DirectX 11-videocard with 1GB of memory is recommended…
EA explains on their website:
Uncanny Sense of Realism—Frostbite 2 technology allows for visceral, visually stunning conflict at an epic scale. Incredibly detailed units and environments, dynamic physics, and exhilarating visual effects bring the battle to life in ways never before seen. This is the closest thing to real war without the consequences.
The game will be released somewhere in 2013.
