On October the 23rd the newest Medal of Honor game has been released for PS3, X360, PC and Wii U. And obviously it is also powered by the stunning Frostbite 2 Game Engine. The game most certainly looks the part but has a number of imperfections as this video review from GameTrailers.com will make clear.
Here’s a great little visual effects montage of some tests that have been done with the Frostbite 2 engine focusing on destruction.
The YouTube Description:
This video is a demo montage made by DICE Senior VFX Artist Nadab Göksu to check the quality of the HD Destruction effects in Battlefield 3™: Close Quarters. This video is part of an “Inside DICE” blog post on the Battlefield Blog. Head here for the full post: blogs.battlefield.com/2012/05/inside-dice-close-quarters-vfx
YouTube Description: “The power of DICE’s new Frostbite 2 game engine allows for spectacular breakthroughs in five key areas of game development. This trailer highlights these areas and reveals what you can expect to see and hear in Battlefield 3 as a result. This trailer was first aired on EA’s 2011 E3 press conference.”
For those of you on a console who might be wondering about the differences of Battlefield 3 running on a powerful PC and a console, here’s your chance to see what GameTrailers has found out. The graphics are still great although some details like texture resolution, vegetation and poly-count have been reduced in quality to be able to be displayed on a PS3 or XBox 360 smoothly. Enjoy!
